PREMIER Kitchen Design We asked kitchen design guru Cheryl Hamilton-Gray of award winning Hamilton-Gray Design Inc. for some of her favorite, outside-the-granite-box choices.
Not that there is anything wrong with the granite box.
It is trusted and time-honored for a reason. For this new year we thought you might like to meet some other countertop superstars; those that are just as sensible-chic but might add a little extra pizzazz to your kitchens next dinner party, midnight snack or family breakfast.
To bring you the best of the best we asked kitchen design guru Cheryl Hamilton-Gray of award winning Hamilton-Gray Design Inc. for some of her favorite, outside-the-granite-box choices.
GLASS & PYROLAVE:
Glass is a unique material providing an attractive transparency over any surface, while maintaining durability and flexibility. The perimeter countertops are made of Pyrolave, an enameled glazed volcanic lava stone, available in 32 colors as well as custom.
PEWTER:
This pewter-topped island is a distinctive material choice bringing to mind bistro bar tops from Paris. Patina was added to the finish by throwing acid-soaked sawdust to replicate pitting & aging.
MAPLE & MAHOGANY:
Dual-level countertop features thick Maple butcher block island workspace paired with lower seating at a Mahogany table. The perfect combination of casual and formal.
