How strange, interesting and revealing these last 7 days have been. In the last week I had a friend who couldn’t get to her home because of a bomb threat…. in Del Mar!…. at L’Auberge! (What!) Thank goodness all was well and everyone was safe and securely home or in their rooms within a number of hours. Then yesterday afternoon the lights went out, literally, on ALL of us! Again thank goodness all was well and it seems everyone is now safe and secure after a number of hours. I can’t, shouldn’t and wouldn’t possibly compare these things to the actual hardships being suffered elsewhere in the world. The most interesting and revealing thing about the black-out was that it was a GREAT night in my neighborhood. I sat outside in the grass enjoying the beautiful weather, talking with neighbor’s I hadn’t caught up with for weeks because I was busing watching Bachelor Pad or something. From all the tweets and facebook posts I have read I think this was a very common theme in San Diego so I say to all of you, Hi Neighbor’s!! It is great to see you! Maybe we should all do this blackout thing more often. Don’t get me wrong though, I will still DVR Bachelor Pad…
If you want to keep the socializing going, check out Kettner Nights in Little Italy tonight.

Or visit one of your farmers markets this weekend. We have a list of times and locations here.
For the next blackout I intend to be prepared to throw an impromptu garden party using the tips Melissa & Betsy from Bixby and Ball gave us. No electricity necessary (just batteries for the radio please!). Click here for full article.
