As we enter into the Fall Season PREMIER asked style-makers and designers James & Esteban of Esteban Interiors in La Jolla for their Top 5 Design Trends for Fall.
Design Dialogue with Esteban Interiors in La Jolla
1) Wall Coverings
This design element has become increasingly more important, and is a great way to add texture, color, and a little bit of drama to any setting. Some of our favorite choices are natural materials such as grass cloth, wood veneers, and crushed mica as well as glass beading and metallics. This is not your grandmother’s wallpaper.
2) Ikat Prints in Fabric
3) LED Lighting
This eco-friendly and energy saving lighting technology continues to grow rapidly. The style offering is becoming quite prolific and there are a number of cutting edge options that have the benefit of extremely low energy consumption, and very long life.
4) Large Format Tile
Scale, scale, scale…bigger is better in this case. This is a great way to emulate the purity of slab stone on walls and floors, but at a considerable cost savings. We prefer 12” x 36” tiles with no grout lines and stainless steel transition strips to finish edges or as a decorative linear accent.
5) Textured Hard Surface Materials
Stone is no longer just about color and pattern. Texture in modern waves, embossed geometrics, and etched damasks are some of our favorites in materials such as quartz and porcelain. We like unexpected uses such as table tops, and full walls (not just for bathrooms and kitchens).
