Order by Design

PREMIER Home Remodeling  We have pulled together a few projects from local designers and remodelers to demonstrate how order can be achieved, and best of all maintained, through great design.

We resolve to clean out that hall closet, before let’s say tax season, and then proceed to forget about it until winter rolls around again. Well this year we propose a new type of resolution, one that involves a true ordering and optimization of your space.

To do this you will need to re-imagine your home a bit. We have pulled together a few projects from local designers and remodelers to demonstrate how order can be achieved, and best of all maintained, through great design… so hopefully you can truly leave this resolution off your list come 2013!

PROJECT 1

Here a rather unremarkable hall-like entrance was completely transformed into a dramatic display space by Marrokal Design & Remodeling. Utilizing their vision and creativity, the wall to the left of the door was removed to open a landlocked bedroom (from a prior homeowner’s renovation) which has become the formal dining area which the current owners wished for but didn’t have.

A few simple strategies anyone can use to start the New Year right

Project 4

Go Paperless

Not only is it green but it also saves an inordinate amount of space while making everything even more accessible. What you will need: scanner, shredder, back up drive, and some sort of “cloud” service.

Scan and save all of your old bills, invoices, receipts, statements, important correspondence. Name each file so it is easily recognized and create folders for saving them by date, importance, category or all three. Save everything in two separate locations (one can be a back-up drive and another some kind of secured “cloud” service) this way if you lose one system you always have another copy. With a “cloud” service you will be able to access your documents from your phone or laptop so you literally always have everything at the tips of your fingers.

Kill two New Year’s Resolutions with one stone so to speak and use the space opened up by your old filing system to set up your new Pilates machine or treadmill.
