In honor of opening day at the Del Mar Race Track and all of the fun and fabulousness here are some race inspired favorites to start your Opening Day…And They’re Off!

A chic cocktail for a chic day

Start your afternoon with a Mary Pickford Cocktail named for the famed silent film actress with a rich history in Rancho Santa Fe:

2 oz light rum

2 oz pineapple juice

1 tsp grenadine

1 tsp maraschino cherry juice

Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, strain into your favorite cocktail glass and voila!

Just because you don't have a barn doesn't mean you can't own a horse. The Moooi Horse Lamp designed by Front is ready to come home with you. You can find him at Mixture in Little Italy. Don't miss All Day Art @ Mixture this Saturday, more details to be posted this week.
On the other end of the spectrum we are pleased to have a world famous thoroughbread farm offered by Jason & Catherine Barry in our August issue.
The horse facilites on this Rancho Santa Fe Property are so beautiful I might think of moving in. See more on this property at www.ranchosantafeauction.com from Steve Uhlir.

This urchin like installation is really more work of art than light fixture. The detail of the crystals is my favorite. This piece lights up Mixture in Little Italy.
Melissa and Betsy of Bixby & Ball in Solana Beach know Coastal Chic and the sea's lovelies make frequent appearances in their shop. Hanging above the bed are framed Sea Fans each completely unique.
The Anemone fixture by Jonathan Adler attaches to your wall or ceiling as a sea anemone would to a rock. It works as both a sconce or a chandelier. From Esteban Interiors in La Jolla.
In this Carlsbad oceanfront estate the sea played a fundamental role in all elements of the homes design and character. A dry wood sculpture interprets driftwood in the living room and the powder room sink looks as though it was recently scooped from the ocean floor. This home was featured in our February issue Open House tour, home presented by Doug Harwood of Coldwell Banker, photos by Darren Edwards Photographs.
