When I walked up to gar’den ol ogy in Encinitas expecting to find beautiful flora and fauna and garden décor I was both completely right and completely wrong; it is that and so so so much more. As they put it, “Gardenology is a retail store offering an alternative vision for garden-style living.” Encompassing all aspects of interior and exterior design for your home, from bedroom to dining room to front and back yard, it is much more an illustration of a lifestyle. Room vignettes throughout the store showcase their approach to incorporating the beauty, texture, and freshness of nature into spaces filled with clean and comfortable furnishings. I did not want to leave and can’t wait to go back for more inspiration. See next post>>

My second stop on the Encinitas Home & Patio showcase was a 2-story townhome that Grounded Modern Living put their design spin on. As the name implies Grounded presents modern design with an organic feel. Their clean lined and colorful style fit the bright condo perfectly.
Since the floor plan does not include a built in fireplace they brought in their own by EcoSmart. A glass and metal piece fueled by clean burning denatured alcohol, it looked as though the fire was just floating in space. Since Grounded is known for their outdoor spaces I am sad to report that I somehow did not get a photo of the patio but stop by the store in downtown Encinitas to see more. A few weekends ago on a beautiful Sunday I took myself from downtown SD to Encinitas to check out the First Annual Encinitas Home & Patio Show and the decked out models of the condo’s at Pacific Station. Encinitas, as usual, did not disappoint in its artsy-beachy coolness (they make laidback an art-form). I have come to learn that it was one of the last weekends that the now famous Surfing Madonna was in her original incarnation so I am even happier I made the trip and got to see it in person.
Back to the show, the new mixed use space of Pacific Station right in downtown Encinitas on South Coast Hwy between E and F streets offers two-story town homes, two-story lofts, and flats, as well as office and retail space. If you are in the area you have definitely heard that the Whole Foods Market is now OPEN! For the Home & Patio event, a few of Encinitas’ incredible retail shops and designers came in and staged the model condos showing off their eclectic styles and bringing life to the empty rooms.

I will cover each model in a separate post but I am starting with the 1 bedroom flat decorated by Rustic Rooster Interiors. Alexandra did a beautiful job of imbuing the space with her classic seaside cottage look in an effortless and extremely cozy way. I had half a mind to curl right up on that sofa with a good book if only all those people hadn’t been walking in and out. She actually talks about her crazy week getting ready for the event in her blog and it is fun to hear her perspective. Check it out at www.rusticroosterinteriors.blogspot.com.
Check back with us as I will continue the tour through the different models decorated by TDG Design Gallery, Grounded, CRC Thrift Store, and Bliss 101.
